Abstract

This paper delves into the profound exploration of love and loss in two iconic plays: William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman." By juxtaposing these works, we examine how these fundamental human experiences are portrayed across centuries and cultural contexts. Both plays showcase the transformative power of love, its capacity to inspire passion, sacrifice, and transcendence. However, they also illuminate the devastating consequences of loss, whether it be the loss of love, identity, or dreams. Through a comparative analysis of the characters, themes, and dramatic techniques employed in these plays, we will explore the enduring impact of love and loss on the human condition. This research paper explores the themes of love and loss in two classic works of literature: William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman". Both plays depict powerful emotions of love and loss, as well as the tragic consequences that can result from them. Through an analysis of the characters, plot, and themes of each play, this paper will compare and contrast the ways in which love and loss are portrayed in the two works.
